Governors at Petworth Primary commit a great deal of time and energy to fulfilling our statutory responsibilities.
In addition to sitting on one of the three committees we meet as a Full Governing Body twice a term.
The Curriculum, Welfare and Standards Committee meets every term and focuses on all aspects of teaching and learning; the curriculum; resources; the learning environment; pupil assessment and progress and of course educational standards. Our other concern is ensuring the overall well-being, safety and happiness of the children.
The Finance, Premises, Health and Safety Committee also meets termly to discuss the budget; financial planning and expenditure; the physical upkeep of the school buildings; and the health and safety of all those in the school community.
The Staffing Committee meets once a term an is concerned with all aspects of staff related issues...from staff well-being and home/school life balance, to professional development, salaries and performance management.
Most Governors also have an area of particular responsibility and spend time in school visiting classes; talking to staff and pupils; meeting with the bursar; accompanying the children on educational outings or carrying out health and safety checks.
